Arrangements under inclement weather conditions
(1) Arrangements for Search Room and Exhibition Hall of the Public Records Office under Inclement Weather Conditions
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above: The Public Records Office will be closed. If the signal is lowered less than 2 hours before the normal closing time, it will remain closed.
Black Rainstorm Warning Signal: If the signal is issued during normal opening hours, the Public Records Office will remain open. If the signal is issued before opening hours, the Public Records Office will be closed until the signal is cancelled. If the signal is cancelled less than 2 hours before the normal closing time, it will remain closed.
In the event that the Government has announced to the public that, due to certain extreme conditions, employees should be advised to stay in their places or safe locations for another two hours (or longer if extended) (“extreme condition”) after the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 has been lowered, please confirm with us the opening time of the PRO prior to your visit.

(2) Arrangements for Group Visits and Workshops under Inclement Weather Conditions
Group visits / workshops for primary schools / child centres / elderly centres will be cancelled if the following weather condition is still in force 3 hours before the programme begins:
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.3 or above; or
Red / Black Rainstorm Warning Signal.
Other group visits / workshops will be cancelled if the following weather condition is still in force 3 hours before the programme begins:
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above; or
Black Rainstorm Warning Signal.
Group visits / workshops already in progress: When Red / Black Rainstorm Warning Signal or Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.3 is issued, all group visits / workshops already in progress will continue, but they will be cancelled immediately when Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above is issued.
In the event that the Government has announced to the public that, due to certain extreme conditions, employees should be advised to stay in their places or safe locations for another two hours (or longer if extended) (“extreme condition”) after the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 has been lowered, please confirm with us the programme arrangements prior to your visit.

(3) Arrangements of Holdings Reservation under Inclement Weather Conditions
You have already made reservation of holdings and received our confirmation email. However, the Public Records Office is closed on your appointed date of visit due to inclement weather conditions. Your reservation will be automatically cancelled. Please make another reservation through the online catalogue "@PRO".
You have already submitted your reservation request, but have not received our confirmation email on the working day before your appointed date of visit because the Public Records Office is closed under inclement weather conditions. After Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above / Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is lowered, please contact us by telephone at 2195 7700 or by email at proinfo@grs.gov.hk. You may come to inspect the holdings after getting our confirmation.
